Hello and Happy (almost) Valentine's Day!

Ah, Valentine's Day. Dim the lights, cue the violins and prepare for superfluous amounts of milk chocolate (yes, I said deserve it) consumption. BUT, before all of that romantic goodness, it's equally important to dress up super fancy-like and take silly photos with friend and fellow blogger, Alex Beall, of The Darling Downtown!

Luckily, I only pretend to enjoy eating dark chocolate (milk it up, baby) and I just happen to have a darling friend named Alex to take silly photos with.

Today's look is part one of a two-part series of Valentine's Day looks styled by Alex and I (so tempted to say "Ani"). We decided to style dressy and casual looks to show how versatile dressing for Valentine's Day can be! Needless to say, for today's post we have styled our dressiest, most festive, swoon-worthy looks that are both romantic and playful.

I'm wearing my favorite Basically Me dress that I have shared between Christmas and Valentine's Day because it just has that flirtatious effervescence that I associate with both, particularly Valentine's Day! The shoes that I'm wearing from BCBGeneration make me especially happy for the sole fact that it's slightly unexpected while still looking like they were made for this look. To address my unseasonable tan, I owe that 100% to Sally Hansen Leg Makeup (here) -- it is literally a life saver when you're basically see-through as a result of being so pale.

Another reason that I was excited to work with Alex -- aside from the fact that she's adorable and perfect -- is that we have very different styles. I have noticed that a lot of women will try to mimic the style of others, even if that look doesn't suit their personal tastes. For this collaboration, you can see that Alex and I have completely different styles, but they both work beautifully for who we are as individuals. I wanted to showcase our differences in the photos that follow. While we are very different, we share a common love for style, which is boundless.

I hope you have as much fun browsing these photos as we did taking them!

I'm all about Alex in this darling flamingo sweater, tulle midi skirt AND the most precious black bow pumps I've ever seen! Visit her blog (here) for more of her outfit details!
