wide-leg wonder

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a beautiful weekend!

Wide-legs, cropped pants, gauchos, cullotes -- whatever you want to call them, they are a perfection of a sillhouette and I could  not be more excited that they have become such a huge trend for Spring/Summer and even Fall/Winter (I've already spotted some leather ones I have a close eye on)! One of my favorite things about culottes is that they are available in a variety of cuts so whether you prefer a roomy wide-leg or more of a tailored, straight line, there are a pair for you! Since culottes do have such a wide-leg, it's important to make sure that your proportions are balanced when styling a look like this. I prefer a modest crop top -- another huge trend this season -- or a denim shirt tied into a shorter version, pictured below!

As with all things in life, it's all about balance! I hope you enjoy my take on this trend -- let me know what you think down below in the comments!

due south 2015

Hi everyone!

I hope you all had a beautiful weekend with a productive week ahead. Today I am so excited to share a festival-inspired look in preparation for Due South 2015 this Saturday, April 25 in Thomasville, GA! Thomasville is one of my favorite places to drop by because it is one of the most charming little towns you will ever have the pleasure to visit filled with amazing restaurants, shopping and a rich heritage that speaks for itself.

If you aren't familar with Due South, it's an all-day music festival packed with an impressive collection of music, art and, of course, food -- all directed towards celebrating the spirit of the South. It is so important to celebrate history and this event strives to do just that in an interactive way by engaging the community and showcasing cultivated talent that inspires and connects us all.

I know you must be thinking, "but what do I wear to something like that?"

I am so glad you asked!

It's no secret that South Georiga humidity is nothing to joke about -- or stand outside in -- so for the sake of not becoming a human candle, it's important to keep your wardrobe light and fresh. When I think of festival styling, I immediately envision a languid, bohemian look that is polished and fun.

With the help of Thomasville retailer, Mimi's, I chose a darling cream high-low frock with lace detail and a sheer bell sleeve that is festival-perfect while remaining seasonably appropriate. I finished the look by adding a little bohemian flair with a pair of fringe booties (don't be afraid of the heel height, they are incredibly easy to walk in), a gold cross body perfect for being hands-free and subtle bangle stacks to add a little visual interest!

To view the line up for Due South 2015 and to purchase tickets -- for only $10! -- visit the Thomasville Center for the Arts website here!
