all white // everything

TGIF + FDOS (First Day of Spring...I know, I'm just so creative)!

It's Friday and I could not be happier that the weekend is finally here...I hope you all have big, exciting plans! In honor of the very first day of what's sure to be a beautiful spring season, I'm breaking one of my own rules with an all white look...with touches of taupe. I couldn't fully commit, but this is pretty close!

I can't rave enough about a lightweight kimono as a transition piece when the weather starts to warm up a bit and this one from Free People is no exception. For me, it's one of the easiest ways to dress up a look and beautiful embroidery, touches of metallic and fringe just makes it a literal one million times better.

Another one of my personal style rules: When you fringe, fringe hard. I die over these taupe fringe booties so I thought the combination of different types of fringe with varying colors and textures would be perfection and, if you ask me, it is!

Hi everyone!

I hope your week is going smoothly and that you're all dreaming of beautiful spring days! Today's look is my take on a perfect spring transition ensemble. It literally makes me cringe when I see people walking around in denim cutoffs and crop tops JUST because it's warmer than usual outside. Save it for SUMMER. Anyways, I prefer to use a combination of layers and lightweight fabrics to stay -- and look -- cool as the temperatures rise, while still remaining seasonally appropriate.

As rare as it may be, I don't think I can accurately express how much I love this tank. I mean, a kitten wearing cat-eye glasses, chewing gum, blowing bubbles. I just. can't. even. I paired it with a long, sheer kimono with a similar color palette to add a little visual interest without mixing too many prints, keeping the rest of the look simple with a pair of black joggers, lace-up suede heels and oversized fringe clutch.

Are you experimenting with transition pieces for spring? I want to see! Use #thestonefile on Instagram to share your looks. Let's inspire each other!

floral // b&w

Hi everyone and Happy Monday!

Today I want to discuss the "art of the jumpsuit" as a perfect Spring transition piece. Not only is it incredibly cool (in both forms of the word), but it is also an effortless piece that transcends seasons. I am a self-proclaimed jumpsuit fanatic so when I came across this little gem, it was a no-brainer. I love the 70's feel you get from the oversized floral print and the wide legs of this jumpsuit, which is perfect for an "almost-spring" day OR, if you aren't living in a climate where it already feels like Summer -- thank you 85 degrees -- then this would be perfect with a lightweight cape or blazer for work or a night out.

When styling a jumpsuit like this that makes a huge statement all by itself, it's important to keep the rest of the look streamlined and clean with minimal accessories. Of course, I live for a pop of color with a bold lip, but you could also experiement with a bright shoe or clutch. No matter which path you choose, the jumpsuit will forever be catalogued in the open archives of "things that always work. literally always."
