The Stone File: modern vintage

modern vintage

Happy mid-week pretties! Wednesday's are, without a doubt, meant for vintage sparkles, bold lips and metallic lace. Well, most days are, but especially Wednesday' to make it through the week somehow, right? Today's look features many of my absolute favorites: Free People, MADE in the deep south and Brahmin!

You may notice -- I know, it's hard to miss -- the beacon of sparkling excellence around my neck in the photos below from MADE in the deep south, the product of an incredible designer based out of Birmingham, Alabama, Michela Swafford. Michela and her team scower the globe to find exquisite vintage chains, pendants, brooches etc. to repurpose into one-of-a-kind jewelry. The concept is genius and the pieces are far more, transforming consumer to collector. My praise for this line comes from a true love for the pieces and the stories that come from them. Count on seeing my full collection of MADE in posts to come!

MADE says it best:

"We start with vintage and antique pieces that are collected all over the world, some dating back to the 1800's. The vintage pieces are then deconstructed, mixed with other pieces and materials to create "new" jewelry."

"The juxtaposition of the elegant and rugged materials combined makes quite a statement! Every woman loves to have something no one else can have. MADE gives them just that, a one-of-a-kind treasure of their very own!"

As far as the rest of the ensemble goes, I styled this look more on the eclectic side with varying shades of orange, neutrals and metallics. When it comes to simultaneous "metal-mixing," I have never seen it as "taboo," -- I actually really enjoy it -- so I tend to mix metals quite often as shown here when I paired a true metallic silver on my dress with more of a brushed gold hue from the necklace.

I hope you enjoy!
